Revealing "the deepest layer of reality our species has ever probed" (video included)

The search for the Higgs particle (aka Higgs boson) and the importance of that search are explained by Brian Greene.

Brian Greene is a professor of physics and mathematics at Columbia University. Professor Greene is the author of The Hidden Reality: Parallel Universes and the Deep Laws of the Cosmos, New York: Knopf 2011.

Professor Greene, in The New York Times op-ed, "Waiting for the Higgs Particle," provides a look at the most recent state of Higgs particle research; including the efforts of researchers working at the Large Hadron Collider near Geneva, Switzerland.  The quotation in the subject line is from Professor Greene's article.
