Quotation for Today: Caring Health Care, For All

The quotation for today helps us to understand why the United States' health care system, in order to faithfully and adequately serve the American people,  must be improved.  The rigid, narrow minded focus of a leading segment of our nation illustrates that we still have a great deal of work remaining.

“My special interest is that in 2014, the 32 or so million people who do not now have health insurance will get access to health care. It’s a huge impact on the lives of many people in this country. I’ve been in health care for 40 years; I know they’re suffering.”
Sister Carol Keehan

Sister Carol Keehan is president of the Catholic Health Association and her comments are part of a story about the continued attempts by the Roman Catholic bishops to undue the Affordable Health Care Act (aka Obamacare).

The Bishops seem to be using a Republican-generated argument about a "war on religion" to justify their argument against Obamacare.  The Bishops' failure to criticise Republican policies that created the greatest inequity in this country since the Great Depression undermines their case; it makes them look as fair and balanced as Faux News.
