In protest of the economic austerity that is being imposed on the French people by their government, rallies are being held across France today.
The General Confederation of Labour (Confédération générale du travail, or CGT) and the French Democratic Confederation of Labour (Confédération française démocratique du travail, or CFDT) are supporting the rallies.
The rally in Paris was scheduled for 2:00PM local time on the Pont de la Concorde in front of the National Assembly. The rally will be led by union leaders Bernard Thibault (CGT) and François Chérèque (CFDT).
