Le Figaro.fr: Sarkozy's Policy Is Downgraded, Not France

France's discontent over Standard and Poor's downgrading of France's debt rating to "AA+" from "AAA" is evolving into a political firestorm.

Socialist presidential candidate, Francois Hollande, again places the responsibility for the debt downgrade on the policy of President Sarkozy. While visiting the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe, Hollande is accused of abandoning France during the crisis over the debt rating.

During his speech in Guadeloupe, Hollande declares that it is not France that has been downgraded but the policy of President Nicolas Sarkozy.

Via Le Figaro.fr, Francois Hollande speaking about France's debt downgrade is quoted below.

«Ce n'est pas la France qui a été dégradée, c'est une politique, c'est une stratégie, c'est une équipe, c'est un gouvernement, c'est un président.»
