Quotation for Today: One-Percent Policy Pals

“They hit it off immediately. They became friends, pals, as they had a great deal in common.”
George Harris

George Harris, who is reported to be a former employee of billionaire Sheldon Adelson, claims that he facilitated the introduction of Mr. Adelson to then Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich.

Mr. Gingrich's criticism of labor unions seems to have been the initial reason that Mr. Adelson supported him.  According to the New York Times article, Mr. Gingrich received additional support from Mr. Adelson after Gingrich founded the political committee, American Solutions.  American Solutions advocated for the privatization of Social Security and greater oil exploration.
