The quotation for today, across the jump, addresses the essential impact of the decision by the Supreme Court of the United States in the case of Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, 558 U.S. 08-205 (2010)

"Clearly the impact of unlimited corporate donations creates a dominating impact on the political process and inevitably minimizes the impact of individual citizens."
Chief Justice Mike McGrath, Montana Supreme Court (writing for the majority).
Concurring with the opinion were Justices Brian Morris, Patricia O'Brien Cotter, Michael E. Wheat and James A. Rice.

Case: Western Tradition Partnership, Inc. et.al. v. Attorney General State of Montana et. al. DA 11-0081 MT 328 (2011).

In the case's opinion, Western Tradition Partnership, Inc. "claims to be a foreign corporation but it is not a business. Its purpose, according to un-rebutted evidence submitted to the District Court by the State, is to solicit and anonymously spend the funds of other corporations, individuals and entities to influence the outcome of Montana elections." (Emphasis added.)
